Grand Canyon, Arizona – one of the seven natural wonders of the world and the last pit stop on our desert adventure before heading back to the glitz of Las Vegas, Nevada. I have always yearned for a chance to visit the Grand Canyon for as long as I can remember, especially after watching the film National Lampoon’s Vacation and hoping to one day embark on a cross-country road trip myself. We traveled from Sedona through Flagstaff north via US Highway 180 along a scenic drive to the South Rim, the most visited location at Grand Canyon National Park. We reached our destination in quick 2 hours and the end result did not disappoint. The Grand Canyon is by far the most jaw dropping sight to see. There are no actual words to describe how breathtaking it truly is and yes, we were one of the nearly 5 million tourists that visit the Grand Canyon South Rim each year and stay for just long enough to get their “I was here photo” but alas, we had a good reason (dinner reservations were awaiting back in Vegas). In order to truly appreciate and grasp its true size and splendor, we recommend having enough time to hike down to the Colorado River and explore one of the many hiking trail options that could last anywhere from one hour to a few days. Was your first time seeing the Grand Canyon as incredible as you'd hoped it would be? Images by J ♡ J. Data linked to sources.
