Hello I Ciao I Zdravo I Greetings
My name is Jasna Hadžić-Stanek. I was born and raised in the city of Goražde, Bosnia and Herzegovina, but have spent most of my adult life in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A. I have been greatly influenced by both cultures, most specifically in terms of architecture, planning, and design. The transition of living in a small European pedestrian-oriented city to a large and vehicle-oriented American city greatly influenced my interest in the field of planning and environmental design. Upon moving to the U.S., I quickly came to appreciate the vibrant, culturally diverse and faster-pace of life, while also looking to my native city as a paradigm of sustainable living with traditional architecture, multi-modal transportation systems, and pedestrian-friendly spaces and streets. My fascination with cities, especially walkable cities (which equals happy people) has led me to share my thoughts & experiences on this blog. When I am not working 9 to 5 making communities more bikeable and walkable one step at a time (no pun intended), and writing, you can find me walking around the vibrant city of Minneapolis, traveling when we can or running along Victory Memorial Parkway or one of the other many great parkways the City of Minneapolis has to offer. |
